Saturday, February 28 is Floral Design Day! Introduced as a proclamation by former Massachusetts governor William Weld in 1995, Floral Design Day is the day we celebrate floral design as an art form! Here are three fun ways shops can promote this holiday…
1) Offer a Class
Invite your customers to spend the afternoon meeting your designers and learning the basics of floral design. This gives you the chance to educate your customers on the design process on a very personal level. Classes could also briefly cover a wide variety of topics that are pertinent to our industry, like flower identification or the importance of flowers to the local and state economy.
2) Set up a DIY bar
Devote a corner of your showroom to a “do-it-yourself” area where customers can make their own arrangements with the help of designers that are on hand for tips and advice. You could even have a design contest and provide prizes for the winners.
3) Create videos for social media featuring easy at-home designs
For customers who can’t make it in to the store, you can prepare several videos for social media that they can watch on their own time and be sure to address multiple experience levels. TIP: Lessons should focus on simple designs that can be done at home without a lot of help or further instruction.
No matter which method you choose, Floral Design Day is a fun way to engage with your customers, and perhaps introduce them to new ideas or industry trends.
Let us know what you plan to do for Floral Design Day! We’d love to hear your ideas and your results.
