1) Make sure your team is ready – Planning for this busy holiday started months ago, but a lot of details have likely changed between now and then. It is important to have everyone in your shop working together as one unit. Start each day with a brief team meeting to ensure that all staff members are on the same page. By doing this, you will alleviate confusion and make a stressful time go as smoothly as possible.
2) Limit your online offerings – Your website should feature the items you have available in your shop. Too many options can quickly escalate into big problems if you run out of inventory. By limiting your online choices, you are able to mass produce and improve efficiency. Having your website reflect your showroom provides the best experience for you, and your customers.
3) Encourage app ordering for future orders – Due to the industry-wide summer slowdown, now is a perfect time to remind your customers about your mobile app and any discounts that you offer for mobile orders. Once they have your mobile app downloaded, you can engage with them during slow periods by sending them special offers or discounts that can be used for summer birthdays, anniversaries, parties, proms, etc.
4) Conduct a contest – Contests are a fun and easy way to engage with your customers and create excitement for your shop. We are currently featuring our eighth annual “Sarasota’s Favorite Mom” contest which is fun for our customers and strengthens our relationship with the community. Reach out to other small businesses in your community to help you sponsor the event. Pairing flowers with a nice local restaurant or a local jeweler makes the contest even more desirable.
